Zen and the Art of Making Almond Milk

December 23, 2008 | Featured, Recipes | Share

I make almond milk almost everyday, and I’m amazed at how refreshing it tastes. And I’m 100% certain it tastes better than any cow’s milk or soy milk from the stores! And healthier!

Basic Ingredients

  • 1 – cup of raw almonds
  • 2 – pints of purified water

Instructions

  • Soak the almonds in water overnight in the fridge.
  • Drain water and put almonds in a blender.
  • Add 2 pints of purified spring water.
  • Blend! And watch it transform into almond milk!
  • Pour the almond milk into a container through a nut bag, cheese cloth or some form of strainer.
  • Drink it fresh! Or refrigerate until ready to serve!

Additional Notes

For a smoother, creamier almond milk – blend one more time before refrigerating or serving. And save the pulp for making nut dip or nut cheese!

oh that actually sounds really yummy! i love this site carlos, you're really teaching me a lot of healthy alternatives to things i love :) ie: almond... helllllloooooooo i have been munching on them all day :D i just have to find some unsalted ones. the ones i have are roasted with seasalt.
  • Hi Annie!

I didn't include this, but you can mix in a little raw honey or agave nectar (to taste) with the almond milk.

I usually don't because I make a smoothie with the almond milk, anyway.

Also, I've been making cashew milk and love the flavor and aroma of this nut milk. It really makes a difference when making a chocolate (raw cacao) smoothie.
